U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will announce round-one finalists for the $4.35 billion Race to the Top competition during a press conference call with reporters at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Rumors have been circulating for days about the much-anticipated announcement. Ed blogger Alexander Russo tipped us of about it early this week. Since then, a wave of rumors have been circulating in Twitter as education reporters try to find out which states made the final cut.

States expected to be finalists include: Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Illinois, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Delaware, Indiana, Minnesota and Colorado.

Michele McNeil, of EdWeek, and Lesli Maxwell, of State EdWatch, assembled a bracket predicting Race to the Top winners, which include the states noted above.

Frank: Let us know what you hear. I'm sure that those states that applied are waiting in excitement to see if they made the final cut. What do you think about Wisconsin chances to get a bite of the pie?
